How Much Will My New Roof Cost?

June 21st, 2010

When contemplating a roof replacement project, most homeowners need to stick to a budget. Of course, they want to know, how much it will cost. Here are some of the factors that determine the price of a new roof.

Now, all roofs aren’t created equal, so they’re all not going to be the same prices. The number one thing that would be a determination is, well certainly, how big is the roof? Some homes are huge, some homes are pretty modest. So, right away that goes into the factor.

Number two is how steep is the roof? The more steep it is, the more we have to work on work-safe practices. And when we do that we slow the job down. Slowing the job down, unfortunately, creates a little more expense.
And the third one would be how “cut up” is a roof? Now, “cut up” is kind of an industry term, so let’s make it more simplistic. How easy, how simple is the roof design is really what we’re talking about. So a garage might be very simple where the roof goes up and it goes over. But the house might be very complex with lots of peaks and valleys and ridges. And we see a lot of those in today’s marketplace. So the more cut up it is, again the more expensive it is.

Ultimately, the only way to really be able to give you a price for your roof is actually to come out look at it, measure it, and put all those determinations together so we can get you the right price. Many roofing contractors will inspect your roof for damage and give you an estimate for free.
